AS5000 và Cisco7000 Series

Trong BCRAN 642-821, nói rằng để xài AS5000, bằt buộc phải có Router 7000 làm chức năng routing. Vậy AS5000 không phải là router à?. Nếu đúng như vậy thì kết nối chúng như thế nào. Cái nào sẽ đứng trước để kết nối ra bên ngoài?

Đúng là trong trong BCRAN 642-821 có đề cập việc sử dụng Router 7200 VXR Series để làm routing brain cho AS 5800 Series, và thực tế thì khi đọc Tech Spec của AS 5800 cũng như vậy.

Chỉ có UAS5814 là bằt buộc phải có Router 7200 làm chức năng routing gọi là dial-shelf and router-shelf.
Nếu dial-shelf 5814 supports data payload only, either 7204 hoặc 7206 là dủ.
Nếu dial-shelf 5814 supports voice payload, cần có either 7204VXR (Voice eXchange Router) hoặc 7206VXR.

AS 5100, 5200, 5300, 5350, 5400 có thể dùng trong dial-shelf stack với 7200/VXR hoặc stand-alone.

Duy nhất 7200/VXR family supports router-shelf function via Dial Shelf Interconnect Protocol (DSIP) and Dial Shelf Discovery Protocol (DSDP).
7100, 7300, 7500, 7600 không support các protocols trên nên không thể làm shelf routers.
